You may recognize Fake Shark indie-pop sound from an Apple Watch commercial..
Homegrown indie-pop band from our beautiful city of Vancouver, Fake Shark release their first single of the year with "Wake Up." Fake Shark maintain their indie-pop sound with art punk influences that radiated from their 2017 debut album Faux Real. In addition to giving them material to remain out on the road, tracks off their debut album like "Something Special," and "Friends" have accumulated over 240,000 and 116,000 streams via Spotify respectively. Though their biggest break came with "Cheap Thrills," which was featured on one of Apple's Apple Watch commercials giving the Vancouver band the much needed exposure to reach a wider audience. Now with their latest single "Wake Up," they aim to prove to that wider audience they have more catchy tunes up their sleeves. The track shares a Gorillaz type sound backed by the thumping kick drum and rhythmic bassline, but quickly translates to the indie-pop delivery they so comfortably stay within. The track also features local twins Fionn who add their feminine vocals to the track giving the song the much needed contrast of a woman's touch. So "Wake Up" and join the party that Fake Shark are kicking off this summer with their first single of the year. Did I mention they're from Vancouver... support local artists and watch the music video below.
