After a 3 year hiatus, Foster The People are back with a 3-track EP called "III." A nice tease of new music expected to come from the 'Pumped Up Kicks' band, although not the same level of quality expected after their successful "Supermodel" studio album. I believe they got 2 out of the 3 songs right with this release, which should have been 3 out of 3 when releasing such a short EP after a three year hiatus.
The first song, 'Pay The Man' is the weakest link on this EP not providing the same type of catchy sound Foster The People is known for. The chorus improves the song a bit, but it's the distracting weird samples in the background during the verses that ruin the song for me. The second song, 'Doing It For The Money' is the song worth the 3 year wait. The song is about living life to the fullest and has a joyous up-beat chorus that brings you back to the "Supermodel" and "Torches" days. 'SHC' is another breathe of fresh air sounding like the guitar from 'Houdini' but bringing a whole new original sound to it. SHC is short for Sacred Hearts Club, which is rumoured to be their upcoming album set to drop later this year. Glad Foster The People is back and if it wasn't for the first song I would have rated the EP higher. EP is still worth a listen and watch out for their upcoming album and possible tour!
