We The Lion prove they’re Peru’s best kept secret with debut album ‘Violet’

Peru's little best kept secret...

Lima indie folk band We The Lion release their debut album Violet, receiving praise coming from all over the country. Lead singer Alonso Briceno founded the band with life-long friends Paul Schabauer (guitar) and Luis Buckley (ukelele) with the trio finally recording their debut together in Peru after 15 years of friendship. Alonso's voice is enough to hook you in and never let go. We The Lion's storytelling about love is packed with emotional empathy while their melodies and clear guitar strings track after track just keep you praying for a vinyl release. It's incredible to think that this band is from Peru and not yet discovered here in Canada when their style belongs in such a folk-induced culture we have. Track after track they keep you reminiscing of the good times and their loved ones. I would not be crazy to say that they are headed the right direction with a future similar to The Lumineers and Mumford & Sons. Great debut album.
